Instagram shut down for over an hour early Friday morning according to reports from users across the world, a second in the past few months. The Facebook photo-sharing app confirmed the outage o Twitter tweeting: ‘We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing their Instagram accounts. We’re working quickly to fix the issue’.

Complaints from users covered concerns that they could not load feeds, do searches or even access their account. Instagram simply displayed a 5xxx error message.
Users immediately scurried elsewhere in the social media-verse to complain. This led to the hashtag #Instagramdown trending on Twitter. Users first reported the outage on Downdetector.com, a site that investigates claims that social media sites have shut down, at about 2:30 a.m. Friday morning.
Variety reported that in just a few minutes, the site registered more than 50,000 user-reports of Instagram outage, The photo-sharing site has suffered a couple of other shutdowns in the recent past. These things happen over a variety of reasons. IG is yet to comment on what caused this one this time.
