Edo Assembly removes Deputy Speaker

Edo State House of Assembly on Wednesday impeached the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Yekini Idiaye, days after he declared support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu

Idiaye was impeached during a plenary session of the Assembly in Benin City.

The members also during the session elected Roland Asoro, member representing Orhionmwon II Constituency, as the new deputy speaker of the Assembly.

Idiaye, last week, led four other legislators Hon Emmanuel Agbaje (APC Akoko-Edo II constituency), Hon Nosayaba Okunbor (Orhionmwon East constituency), Hon Dumez Ugiagbe (Ovia Northeast I constituency) and Hon Vincent Uwadiae (Ovia Northeast constituency II) to endorse the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, in the September 19 Edo Governorship elections.
